New satellite for GASPROM

International Launch Services (ILS) today announced the contract for the ILS Proton launch of two commercial satellites, YAMAL 401 and YAMAL 402, for Russian satellite operator, Gazprom Space Systems.  The launches are scheduled for 2012-2013.

The satellites will be manufactured  a French corporation Thales Alenia Space an agreement which signed in February 2009.

The new satellites will allow Gazprom to significantly expand its orbital constellation of power which is now fully loaded. The zone of active surface is greatly increased and will "cover" a useful signal of the Yamal, Eastern Siberia, Far East of Russia and abroad.

 

Yamal-401 will be built on the platform, Express 2000, equipped with 36 Ku-band transporderami and 17 C-band transponders.  Cover zone is  the north of Russia. The new satellite will be located in position 90 degrees East.

 

Another satellite, the "Yamal-402" will be built on the platform Spacebus 4000 C3, equipped with 46 Ku-band transporderami and ensure coverage of Russia, Northern Europe and South Africa. Working position  - 55 East.
